Welcome

My name is Ben and I'm a Canberra-based master photographer, educator, speaker and mentor. I have been shooting weddings since 2002 under the trading name Fusion Photography, and teaching through my other business, Better Photo Workshops, established in 2017. For over 20 years I have been an accredited photographer with the now-defunct Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP), where I also earned double masters honours for my years of award-winning images. I also served two terms as state president, and two years on the national board of directors. I am a trained and experienced judge, and had the privilege of being an official judge for the Australian Professional Photography Awards.

I have experience in a broad range of photographic genres. My primary interests and expertise are in landscape & nature, weddings & portraiture, theatre, and illustrative/fine-art. My images have been published in books and magazines locally and internationally, and on everything from official stamps to billboards, and everything in between. My Black Summer project was recently featured on the cover as well as in a 15-page editorial in Photo Review. I have a particular passion for the language of visual communication and the nuts and bolts of composition. I have spent over ten years studying, speaking, and writing on art history, line theory, colour theory, Gestalt theory and visual perception. I bring a practical application of all these subjects to my photographic workshops.
