About

Ben is a Canberra-based photographer, educator, speaker and mentor. He is the owner of Fusion Photography, a boutique wedding studio he established in 2002. He has been an accredited professional photographer with the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers (AIPP) since 2004, and has served on the ACT Division Council for 10 years (including two terms as state president), as well as on the national board. The institute awarded Ben Master of Photography honours with one gold bar, and he was a trained official judge of the professional photography awards at state & national level.

Ben has experience in a broad range of photographic genres. His primary interests & expertise are in landscape & nature, weddings & portraiture, theatre, macro and illustrative/Fine-Art. Over the years he has also been commissioned for commercial, fashion and sports assignments. As a highly sought-after wedding and events photographer, he has received commissions Australia-wide and internationally including the South Pacific, Asia, Los Angeles and Italy. Ben’s large library of stock images has been published all over the world and is featured on everything from book covers to billboards.

Ben has a particular passion for the language of photographic composition and has spent years studying art history, Gestalt, line & colour theory, and visual neuroscience, to bring a deeper understanding and application of these to the art of photography.

Ben's other passions & addictions are travel, chocolate, jazz, books, musical theatre, Italy, and his wife Melinda!
